Please note the changes to the schedule below, effective 4/1/16. The changes are as follows:

• Monday: the weapons class (nun chaku & sai) will move to 5:30 PM; the junior advanced class will now start at 6:00 PM.
• Wednesday: the 5:30 PM Junior Advanced class ranks will be green to apprentice black; the 7:00 PM class will be a Black Belt class – all ages. Those currently attending the 7:00 PM Adult class will be grand fathered in.
• Thursday: the 6:00 PM class will be white to green ages 7-70

The new schedule will go into effect April 1, 2016.

The Dr. Curtis E. Tate College Scholarship applications are now available.

The $1,500.00 scholarship was founded in 1998 to honor the life of Dr. Tate who passed away in 1997. He was a dedicated martial artist, a fierce competitor and one of the first members of USA Martial Arts. This unique award is for our students only and it’s the only one of its kind in the United States. Applicants must be a member USA Martial Artists (or a child of a member) or one of the associated park & recreation programs, a high school senior or freshman, sophomore junior college student.

A “Storm Closing” email will be sent to you by 4:00 PM if the road conditions are too dangerous to travel during a storm. We also post “Storm Closing” announcements on TV, channel WTNH channel 8 or on NBC Connecticut. The road conditions on your route to the studio may not be safe for travel so please use your best judgement before coming to class.

Safety is our first concern when we spar.

Sparring without gear means “no contact sparring or shadow sparring.” If you are sparring with contact your complete sparring gear includes foam dipped head, hand and foot gear. It also includes a mouth guard and groin protector (cup) for males.

Contact sparring will only be allowed for those with all the required safety equipment. Thank you.

We can order anything (sparring gear, weapons, gear bags, focus pads and shields, etc.) listed in the AWMA catalog or their website. The web site is www.awma.com. The shipping is free when ordered through USA Martial Arts. The Connecticut sales tax is 6.35%.

The final day ordering day is December 16th to receive your order before Christmas.

The next Black Belt graduation will be held on Friday, November 20th @ 6:00 PM. The location has changed!!! The new location will be at the Wolcott Youth Center – 48 Todd Road, Wolcott 06716. We are no longer using the Boys Club.

PARK AND RECREATION CLUBS ARE INVITED!!!!

On November 15th, 2015 from 12pm to 3pm we will be having USA MA Demo Team sign-ups.

The sign-ups will be held at the Woodbury studio led by 2nd Dan Black belts Bruce and Melanie Butler. This is an opportunity to expand your Martial Arts experience and be part of something challenging, positive and rewarding.

Everyone can try out for the Demo Team and show us your commitment to Tang Soo Do. It starts by coming to the try outs with an open mind to be challenged to show your best from day one and grow as a Martial Artist. Your passion and consistency to give 110% every time we are together is the key to succeed.

WHAT TO BRING – Listed below are key things to bring to the try outs.

1. Positive Attitude with 110% Energy
2. Come dressed in full uniform
3. If you have a weapon be prepared to demonstrate
4. Breaking materials if you want to demonstrate this ability
5. Snack and water

A new jujitsu class in Woodbury will be added to the schedule effective October 16th. The class will be held on Friday’s at 7:00 PM for ages 9 thru adult. Jujitsu students must be a member of the Black Belt Club. Black Belt Sara O’Bryan will be the instructor.
