21 Naugatuck HQ grading: 5:30 Juniors white to green / 6:30 apprentice red – black

22 Black Belt graduation @ 6:00 PM – Boys Club Waterbury

23 Woodbury grading: 9:00 Little Ninjas/ 9:30 Kid Kicks / 10:15 Juniors white to purple

The adult class will be held as scheduled at 11:45 AM

BOARD BREAKING WEEK- September 21 to September 27th

The annual “Board Breaking Week” will be held from September 21 to September 27th. Students should bring 1” x 12” pinewood cut to the following specifications:

Ages 5 & 6: 2” wide

Ages 7-10: 3” wide

Ages 11-13: 4” wide

Ages 14 to adult: 5” – 6” wide

You should bring enough wood for at least 5 breaks. See your instructor for additional details and particulars for your dojang.

CT YANKEE NATIONAL KARATE TOURNAMENT – October 5th at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury

This is a National tournament sponsored by the Cheezic Tang Soo Do Federation. Divisions will include sparring, weapons, forms and board breaking. Trophies first to 4th place. Go to: www.cheezictsd.com to download a registration.

WARREN FALL FESTIVAL DEMO – October 11th at Warren Woods in Warren

Always a great experience at Warren Woods!!!! Please support our Demo Team and have some great food at the Warren Fall Festival.

FOURTH CHEEZIC TANG SOO DO INTERCLUB TOURAMENT OF 2014 – November 9th at the Boys Club in Waterbury

This event will be forms and board breaking only. Trophies 1st thru 4th place - 81 divisions. Cheezic Tang Soo Do members only.

EVENTS:

Tournaments: We participate in five Federation-sponsored competitions each year. These events are well-organized, challenging and great fun. We encourage participation, whether as a competitor, judge, or support. For tournament dates and times, visit www.cheezictsd.com.

Cheezic Tang Soo Do Annual Awards Banquet: Annual awards ceremony and dinner to recognize outstanding students from all Federation Branches.

Cheezic Tang Soo Do Annual Karate Kamp: : Annual camping weekend held in August for students, family and friends of Tang Soo Do. Includes food, games, competitions, demonstrations, seminars and activities.



SCHOLARSHIP:

Curtis E. Tate Scholarship

The Curtis E. Tate Scholarship Fund was established in 1998 to memorialize the life of Dr. Curtis E. Tate, a beloved local physician and a student of Tang Soo Do. USA Martial Arts is proud to be a sponsor for this scholarship. The $1500 scholarship is awarded once per year on the basis of achievement in relation to the student's goals, character as determined from responses on the application, written recommendations, and the ability to meet the scholarship requirements. Applications are available January 1st and are due back by early April (please see this year's application for exact due date), call Master Wilke at (203) 266-9172 if you are interested.

Eligibility - Each Applicant Shall:

* Be a currently enrolled and active karate student (or child of a student) in good membership standing, who has taken classes or been teaching for at least the past 2 consecutive years at USA Martial Arts in Woodbury; USA Martial Arts in Naugatuck; or at one of the following Park & Recreation Programs: Bethlehem, Bridgewater, Roxbury, Warren, Washington, New Milford, Middlebury, Cornwall or Naugatuck.

* Model the Tang Soo Do culture (commitment, loyalty, contribution to the art and to the community) and Seven Tenets of Tang Soo Do (Integrity, Concentration, Perseverance, Respect & Obedience, Self-Control, Indomitable Spirit, Humility)

* Be an entering or current college or graduate school student

* Have a completed application ARRIVE on or BEFORE April 6 at the following address:

Application Requirements:

* APPLICATION FORM: Completed legibly with full responses.

* LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: Submit two current letters of recommendations from an adult (non-relative) who has known you for the last two years (see current application for more information).

* ESSAYS: Attached to the application (see current application for more information).
